This page is here to help you understand further why we are conducting this project. 

Did you know that only 5% of used ink cartridges are recycled?  That means that 95% are just thrown away and they end up in a landfill.  Landfills already take up a lot of needed space.  If we keep throwing things away instead of recycling, we will be using more precious space for landfills.

 Did you know that it takes 2.5 ounces of oil to make a new ink cartridge? That means that we are using our limited supply of fossil fuels every time we make a new cartridge. But if we recycle these ink cartridges, we will save a large amount of fossil fuels.

Did you know that ink cartridges take over 10 centuries to decompose? That means if we just throw them away, they will be taking up space and lying around for over 1,000 years!

These are just some of the reasons why we are conducting this recycling project.  As you can see, we need to start recycling more!
